The synthesis of the oligomycin B polypropionate (C1-C18) portion was achieved by an aldol coupling between the C3-C9 aldehyde and the C10-C16 ketone. A crotylstannane addition, the Brown's crotylboration, and a metalated methoxyallene addition were the key steps for the syntheses of these subunits.
