Palladium dichloride catalysed cascade cyclization of 1,5-hexadien-3-yl 2-alkynoates in the presence of CuCl2 and LiCl provides a facile access to cis-fused bicyclic α-(Z)-chloroalkylidene-γ-butyrolactone derivatives.
