α-Cyano selenides 2 and α-cyano seleno-acetals 5 were synthesized by the reaction of selenoacetals 1 and seleno ortho esters 4 with TMSCN in the presence of a Lewis acid, respectively. α-Cyano selenoacetals 5 were very stable toward various Lewis acids at room temperature.
