A series of new hydroxyalkyl(pyrrolidino)chromium carbene complexes 3a-f have been synthesized in good yields through the ring-opening reaction of epoxides 2a-e promoted by the conjugate base of methyl(pyrrolidino)chromium carbene (1), in the absence or in the presence of diethyl ether-boron trifluoride complex.
