A new method of preparation of enantiomerically pure S-trifluoromethyl-containing amino acids (3 examples) by direct trifluoromethylation of corresponding unprotected amino acids using trifluoromethyl iodide in liquid ammonia under ultraviolet irradiation has been developed.
