A new method for the preparation of 2,3-disubstituted furans from α,β-acetylenic acetals (1,1-diethoxy-2-alkynes), via reaction with triphenylphosphine/trimethylsilyl triflate and subsequent Wittig reaction with aldehydes, is described.
