The enol triflate derivatives prepared from the lithium enolates of δ-valerolactones undergo Pd(0)-catalysed coupling with hexamethyldistannane to afford the corresponding 6-(trimethylstannyl)-3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrans in good yield.
