Oxyallyl cations derived from 2,4-dibromo-3-pentanones cycloadd in a 1,3-fashion to 1,3-diphenylisobenzofuran (1) and N-tert-butylisoindole (2) to give the corresponding benzoannulated 8-oxa and 8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octenones 6 -11.
