Bis(N,N-disubstituted amino) disulphides are prepared in high yield from the reaction of secondary amines with sulphur monochloride. Conversion of the disulphides to the corresponding trisulphides is accomplished by the action of sulphuryl chloride/sodium sulphide in a two-phase system. A mechanism for the reaction is discussed.
