The addition of trimethylsilyloxy phosphorus(III) derivatives, generated in situ, to N-benzylideneallylamines at room temperature followed by catalytic de-allylation provides a mild, high yielding route to α-aminobenzylphosphonates and α-aminobenzylphosphinates.
