The title compounds 2 and 3 are easily synthesized in good to excellent yields and high stereoselectivity by addition of various nucleophiles, such as organometallic reagents, alcohols, thiols, phosphorus compounds and aniline, to ethyl 4,4,4-trichloro-2-cyano-2-butenoate.
