A new method for the synthesis of threo-ß-hydroxy-L-glutamine consists of epoxidation of (S)-3-benzyloxycarbonyl-5-oxo-4-vinyltetrahydro-1, 3-oxazole (protected L-vinylglycine) and regioselective ring cleavage.
