We describe the preparation of trifluorovinyllithium (from chlorotrifluoroethylene in ether) and of (E)- and (Z)-1,2 difluorovinyllithiums. These reagents present useful synthons on the way to α,β-difluoro-α,β-unsaturated alcohols and acids as either (E)- or (Z)-isomers, and to β,γ (or γ, δ)-difluoro β,γ(or γ,δ)-unsaturated alcohols.
