Anatomische Veränderungen, geringe Nahrungsmengen sowie -unverträglichkeiten können nach Anlage eines Magenbypasses nutritive Mangelzustände und schwere ernährungsassoziierte Komplikationen nach sich ziehen. Bisher gibt es keine einheitlichen Empfehlungen für die postoperative Nachsorge. Zur Prävention von Defiziten und Langzeitkomplikationen ist eine Substitution ausgewählter Nährstoffe von besonderer Bedeutung. Kernelemente der Beratung sind zudem postoperative Veränderungen, Phasen des Kostaufbaus, eine geeignete Lebensmittelauswahl sowie das Erlernen eines angepassten Essverhaltens.
