Significance

Polystyrene-supported iodosylbenzene sulfate (PS-IBS, 2) was prepared by grinding PS-DIB 1 (H. Togo, K. Sakuratani Synlett 2002, 1966) and sodium bisulfate monohydrate at room temperature under solvent-free conditions. PS-IBS oxidized alcohols and sulfides in aqueous acetonitrile efficiently to give the corresponding carbonyl compounds and sulfoxides in 86-99% conversion.
