Significance

Magnetite/silica nanoparticle supported N-heterocyclic carbene nickel catalysts (MNP-Si-NHC-Ni) 1a-b were developed and applied to the C-S coupling of aryl halides 2 with ­thiols 3 to give the corresponding aryl sulfides 4a-g (7 examples; 1a: 89-95% yield, 1b: 62-87% yield).
