Significance

A selective intermolecular tail-to-tail heterohydroalkenylation of vinylarenes with unactivated α-olefins yielding branched 1,1-disubstituted alkenes is described. This nickel hydride catalyzed reaction proceeds in the presence of N-heterocyclic carbene ligands with minimal isomerization.
