Significance

The authors report a diastereo­selective iodocarbocyclization of 1,5-enynes to provide decorated cyclopentenes. With 1,5-enynes the 6-endo mode of cyclization has been previously observed and is more common; however, the authors have reversed this preference by judicious choice of substituents on the alkene moiety.
