Significance

Over the past decade, the Landis group has contributed consistently to the development of enantioselective rhodium-catalyzed hydroformylation (see Review below). The authors expand on their earlier work by applying the rhodium BisDiazaphos catalyst to vinyl carboxamides, allyl ethers, and allyl carbamates. The catalyst loading is low and an application of this strategy is demonstrated in the synthesis of the Roche aldehyde.
