Significance

Aziridination of conjugated dienes has previously proven difficult; here, the authors report a novel silver-catalyzed method for regio- and stereospecific aziridination of unsymmetric conjugated dienes. This nice method was extended to the synthesis of biologically active (±)-sphingosine.
