Significance

A ZnCl2-enhanced arylation of benzyl trifluoroacetates with arylzinc reagents has been developed. The method could be applied to a broad variety of differently substituted benzyl trifluoroacetates tolerating bromo functionalities. Also sterically hindered arylzinc reagents were shown to furnish the desired coupling products in high yields.
