Significance

Copper oxide nanoparticles supported on kaolin (SCONP) catalyzed the reaction of 2-acylanilines with benzylic amines in the presence of TBHP to give the corresponding quinazolines in up to 94% yield (28 examples). In the reaction of 2-aminobenzophenone with benzylamine, the catalyst was recovered by centrifugation and reused three times (1st reuse: 87% yield, 2nd reuse: 80% yield, 3rd reuse: 67% yield).
