Significance

The chiral bis(oxazoline)-copper complex 3 immobilized on magnetically separable mesocellular mesopourus silica (M-HMMS silica) was prepared by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of 2 with 1 followed by treatment with Cu(OAc)2. The immobilized copper complex 3 catalyzed the asymmetric Henry reaction of benzaldehydes with nitromethane to give the corresponding products in up to 97% yield and 84% ee.
