Significance

A novel class of reversible conductive polymers were developed based on aromatic bis(isocyanate)s and complementary bis(N-heterocyclic carbene)s. This polymer is one of the few examples of a conjugated polymer that can reversibly be polymerized and depolymerized. These types of polymers show promise for reconfigurable and self-healing materials in electronics.
