Significance
(-)-Tetrahydrolipstatin is an inhibitor of pancreatic lipase that is prescribed for the treatment of obesity. (-)-Tetrahydrolipstatin also inhibits the thioesterase activity of fatty acid synthase in cancer cells resulting in arrest of cell proliferation and angiogenesis with a consequent delay in tumor progression.
