Zusammenfassung

An Hand von Untersuchungen, vorwiegend aus dem amerikanischen Schrifttum, wird gezeigt, daß durch eine frühzeitig einsetzende und ausreichend lange durchgeführte Penicillintherapie der akuten Streptokokkenangina die gefürchteten Spätkomplikationen: rheumatisches Fieber und akute Glomerulonephritis mit großer Sicherheit verhindert werden können. Außer Erythromycin haben sich andere Antibiotika sowie Sulfonamide nicht bewährt. Es wird empfohlen, in Ermangelung deutscher Untersuchungen die amerikanischen Ergebnisse zu übernehmen und eine einheitliche Therapie der akuten Streptokokkenangina mit Penicillin durchzuführen.

Summary

Published reports, especially those from the United States, are reviewed to show that early and appropriately continued administration of penicillin in cases of streptococcal tonsillitis prevents such late complications as rheumatic fever and acute glomerulonephritis. Erythromycin and other antibiotics, as well as sulphonamides, have been shown to provide similar prophylactic cover. In the absence of corresponding German studies it is suggested that uniform methods of treatment of this condition, based on American results, be adopted in Germany.

La angina aguda ¿debe ser tratada con penicilina?

Tomando por base investigaciones anteriores, con preponderancia de la bibliografía americana, se muestra que en virtud del tratamiento de la angina estreptocócica aguda con penicilina, iniciado a tiempo y seguido durante un tiempo suficientemente largo, se pueden evitar con gran seguridad las temidas complicaciones tardías, a saber: la fiebre reumática y la glomerulonefritis aguda. Otros antibióticos, hecha abstracción de la eritromicina, así como sulfonamidas no han dado el resultado apetecido. A falta de estudios alemanes respecto del particular se recomienda aceptar los resultados americanos y realizar una terapia uniforme de la angina estreptocócica aguda con penicilina.
