Vorkommen von Antikörpern gegen das Burkitt-Virus (Epstein-Barr-Virus, EBV)

Zusammenfassung

Wir untersuchten das Vorkommen von Antikörpern gegen das Virus des afrikanischen Lymphoms (Epstein-Barr-Virus) bei einer Patientengruppe, die nach Ergebnissen in den USA eine hohe Zahl positiver Reaktionen erwarten ließ. Ziel dieser Untersuchung war ausschließlich die Beantwortung der Frage, ob dieses Virus bei uns überhaupt vorhanden ist. Mit der indirekten Immunfluoreszenzmethode fand sich bei 35 von 38 Patienten eine positive Reaktion. Besonders hohe Titer wurden bei Patienten mit Lymphosarkom und bei Patienten mit Tumoren des Nasen-Rachen-Raums festgestellt. Positive Immunpräzipitationsreaktionen wurden ebenfalls bei Patienten dieser Diagnosegruppen beobachtet, wobei keine eindeutige Relation zwischen den beiden Antikörpern erkennbar war. Damit steht fest, daß das Epstein-Barr-Virus in unserer Population vorhanden ist. Man wird also auch in Deutschland mit der pathogenen Wirkung dieses Virus zu rechnen haben, so daß weitere Untersuchungen zur Epidemiologie und pathogenen Wirkung wünschenswert sind.

Summary

The occurrence of antibodies against the virus of Burkitt's lymphoma (Epstein-Barr virus) was examined in a group of patients in whom, according to experience in the United States, a high incidence of positive reaction was to be expected. The purpose was merely to answer the question of whether the virus occurs in Germany at all. A positive reaction in the indirect immuno-fluorescence test occurred in 37 of 40 patients. An especially high titre was observed in patients with lymphosarcoma and those with tumours in the region of the nose and throat. Immuno-precipitation reactions were also observed in this group of patients, without any definite relationship between the two types of antibodies being demonstrated. The results indicate that Burkitt's lymphoma virus occurs in the German population. Since one will have to reckon with it as a potential disease agent, further studies on its epidemiology and pathogenic action are desirable.

Aparición de anticuerpos frente al virus de Burkitt (virus de Epstein-Barr, EBV)

Nosotros hemos estudiado la aparición de anticuerpos frente al virus del linfoma africano (virus de Epstein-Barr) en un grupo de pacientes que, según los resultados obtenidos en los Estados Unidos de América, hacía esperar un gran número de reacciones positivas. Finalidad de este estudio fue exclusivamente el responder a la cuestión de si este virus existe efectivamente entre nosotros. Con los métodos indirectos de inmunofluorescencia se encontró una reacción positiva en 37 de 40 pacientes. Un título especialmente alto se encontró en los pacientes con linfosarcoma y en los de tumores de la cavidad nasofaríngea. Reacciones positivas de inmunoprecipitación fueron observadas igualmente en pacientes de estos grupos diagnósticos, no siendo reconocible ninguna relación clara entre ambos anticuerpos. Con esto es seguro que el virus »tumoral« de Epstein-Barr se halla presente en nuestra población. Por tanto se tendrá que contar también en Alemania con el efecto patógeno de este virus, siendo de desear ulteriores estudios acerca de la epidemiología y efecto patológico de dicho virus.
