Ethische, soziale und rechtliche Probleme bei Lebendspendern wie Transplantatentnahme von Verstorbenen werden, unter besonderer Diskussion der Frage des Todeszeitpunktes, ausführlich dargelegt.

Indications for renal transplantation are discussed in view of the insufficient number of renal dialysis centres in the Federal Republic of Germany and the increasingly favourable prognosis of homologous transplantation. Ethical, social and legal problems involving both the live donor and the removal of dead organs are considered, with special attention being paid to determining the point of death.

Se discute la indicación de la transplantación renal, señalándose la insuficiente capacidad de diálisis en la República Federal y el pronóstico, cada vez más favorable, de las transplantaciones homólogas. Se exponen detalladamente los problemas jurídicos, sociales y éticos en dadores vivos, así como la toma de transplantes de fallecidos, una vez discutido, sobre todo, el tema del momento de la muerte.
