Eine Familie mit Pyroglutaminacidurie

Zusammenfassung

In einer Familie mit Pyroglutaminacidämie wurde bei zwei Geschwistern (Bruder und Schwester) in der unmittelbaren Postnatalperiode außer Oxoprolin in zwei verschiedenen Laboratorien und mit differenten Methoden ein Anstieg der Essigsäurewerte im Blut bis auf das Zehnfache der Norm festgestellt. Später ließ sich die Hyperacetatämie nicht mehr nachweisen. Beide Eltern sind heterozygote Träger des pathologischen Gens. Die Glutathionsynthetase-Aktivität in den Erythrozyten des Knaben beträgt etwa 3% der Norm. Der ältere Bruder weist eine normale Aktivität des Enzyms auf.

Summary

In a family with pyroglutamic acidaemia an increase of acetic acid in the blood up to 10 times normal was found in the immediate post-natal period in two siblings (brother and sister). The increase was determined in two laboratories by different methods and included oxoproline. The hyperacetataemia could not be demonstrated later in life. Both parents are heterozygous carriers of the pathological gene. The glutathione synthetase activity of the erythrocytes of the boy is approximately 3% of normal. The older brother shows normal activity of the enzyme.
