Abstract

Background: For the treatment of unilateral vocal fold paresis, aspects of nerve regeneration, muscle protection and compensation of impaired function have to be considered. Several behavioural voice treatment procedures and electrical stimulation regimen have been suggested. Here practical considerations of electro stimulation procedures are discussed. In contrast to behavioural therapy, electro stimulation therapy is performed in a home based procedure.
