Mortalitätsrisiko von Haloperidol und atypischen Neuroleptika

Verglichen mit atypischen Neuroleptika war kurzzeitiges Haloperidol bei Altenheimbewohnern mit einer höheren Sterbewahrscheinlichkeit assoziiert. Beide Substanzklassen können das kardiovaskuläre System negativ beeinflussen und zu verlängerten QT-Intervallen sowie Arrhythmien führen. Die Kohortenstudie ergab die komparative Sicherheit für Haloperidol und atypische Neuroleptika, die Patienten mit einem akuten Myokardinfarkt stationär erhalten hatten.
