A ready two-step procedure for medium scale preparation of (E)-1, 3-butadienyl(tributyl)stannane involves stannylation (Bu3SnI-lithium hexamethyldisilazide) of 2,5-dihydrothiophene S,S-dioxide (3-sulfolene) followed by thermal extrusion of sulfur dioxide.
