Significance

Pd- and Ni-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions are common methods for C-C bond formation. Other transition metals are much less investigated as catalysts. Herein, the authors describe an interesting application of Rh catalysis for Negishi-type cross-coupling reactions. The reaction gives good yields of alkylarenes from the corresponding aryl and alkyl iodides and represents an excellent alternative to the classical Pd- and Ni-catalyzed cross-couplings.
