A synthesis of substituted 1,2,4-triazolidinones starting from N-tert-butyl-N-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)carbamoyl chloride (1) and hydrazine derivatives is reported. The reactions of 1 with ethylene-, phenylene- and propylenediamines followed by cyclizations yield the substituted cyclic ureas 6b-d, which may be used in the synthesis of bridged structures.
