Abstract

A water extract of rice bran prominently decreased the plasma sugar level in mice. Fractionation of the extract by monitoring the activity furnished four glycans, oryzabrans A, B, C and D. These polysaccharides exerted marked hypoglycemic effects in normal and alloxan-induced hyperglycemie mice.
