To the memory of Carl C. Crandell-fond friend, dedicated teacher, frequent scholar, awesome mentor, fine human being. Your words and actions will rise above the background noise and reverberate with us always.

Carl was very concerned about the stresses of our profession and how they contributed to professional burnout. Not long ago I listened to Carl present on the subject and came away thinking about how passionate he was about helping people succeed and blossom. Burnout was the topic about which Carl planned to contribute an article to this issue of Seminars in Hearing. His untimely and sudden passing will leave a void much bigger than the missing article.
