Zusammenfassung

Ästhetik und Dentinhypersensitivität sind aus Patientensicht unangenehme Folgen gingivaler Rezessionen. Aus medizinischer Sicht ist die freiliegende Wurzel eine Prädilektionsstelle für Karies und Abrasionen. Nicht jede Rezession muss chirurgisch gedeckt werden. Ein Stoppen der Progression mit Karies- und Abrasionsprophylaxe kann ebenso eine erfolgreiche Therapie darstellen. Entscheidend für den Therapieerfolg, egal ob chirurgisch oder nicht-chirurgisch, ist die Behandlung ätiologischer Faktoren, deshalb werden die prädisponierenden und auslösenden Faktoren in diesem Artikel ausführlich dargestellt.

Abstract

Aesthetics and dentine hypersensitivity are disagreeable consequences for patients with gingival recessions. From a medical point of view exposed roots are a preferred site for caries and abrasions. Not every recession has to be covered surgically. It can be equally successful to stop the progression of gingival recessions by caries and abrasion prophylaxis. Treatment of etiological factors is of utmost importance, regardless of surgical or non-surgical intervention. This is why the predisposing and triggering factors are described in detail in this article.
