Four studies were conducted to examine the data collection procedures and diagnostic accuracy of Navy Hospital Corpsmen for patients “with acute abdominal pain and to determine the compatibility of their skills with the requirements of a computer-aided diagnostic system for abdominal pain. Findings suggest that instruction in specific data collection procedures results in an increase in the amount of data collected. It does not appear to improve either the accuracy of the data collected or the diagnosis. The instructed corpsmen collected more of the required data for effective use of a computer-based diagnostic system for abdominal pain.

Vier Studien wurden durchgeführt, um die Datensammlungsmethoden und die diagnostische Genauigkeit von Sanitätern eines Marinekrankenhauses bei Patienten mit akuten Leibschmerzen zu untersuchen und die Vereinbarkeit ihres Könnens mit den Anforderungen eines computerunterstützten diagnostischen Systems für Leibschmerzen zu bestimmen. Die Ergebnisse deuten an, daß die Unterrichtung in spezifischen Methoden der Datensammlung zu einer vermehrten Sammlung von Daten führt. Sie scheint weder die Genauigkeit der gesammelten Daten noch die Diagnose zu verbessern. Die unterrichteten Sanitäter sammelten eine größere Anzahl der für den wirkungsvollen Einsatz eines computergestützten Systems für Leibschmerzen erforderlichen Daten.
