Zusammenfassung

In der verhaltenstherapeutischen Sprechstunde wurde ein 6 Monate alter Kater aufgrund nahezu täglicher Attacken auf das Gesicht der Besitzerin vorgestellt. Anhand einer ausführlichen Verhaltensanamnese konnten gegen den Menschen gerichtetes Jagdverhalten sowie spielbezogene Aggression und eine reduzierte motorische und emotionale Selbstkontrolle diagnostiziert werden. Die durchgeführte Verhaltenstherapie führte innerhalb weniger Wochen zu einer erheblichen Verbesserung des Verhaltens. Nach 5-monatiger Behandlung zeigte der Kater gegenüber der Besitzerin und anderen Menschen keine jagdlichen Attacken und auch kein unangemessen grobes oder aggressives Spielverhalten mehr.

Summary

The owner of a 6-months-old tomcat came to seek help because the cat had attacked her face on a near-daily basis. Through a detailed behavioural history, the cat’s behaviour was diagnosed as humandirected predatory attack behaviour, play-related aggression and reduced motor as well as emotional self-control. Within a few weeks, behavioural therapy produced a significant improvement. After 5 months of therapy, the cat showed neither predatory attacks nor inappropriately rough or aggressive behaviour in play towards its owner or other humans.
