This edition of Seminars in Hearing represents the second publication of proceedings from the Widex Pediatric Congress. The collection of contributions contained within this edition was presented on the shores of Lake Como, Italy in June 2012 with attendees from over 23 countries. Sponsored by Widex, this was the seventh time that this successful international biennial event has been held. Since its inception in 2000, the congress has met with outstanding reviews due to its format and the presentation of timely issues by the foremost authorities in the field.

Publication in Seminars in Hearing is seen as an important means to provide accessibility to the peer-reviewed proceedings of this conference for clinicians and researchers around the world. On behalf of Widex, it is with great pleasure that I present these proceedings. The international contributors to this edition offer an evidence-based approach to some of today's most pressing issues in the diagnosis and treatment of childhood hearing disorders.
