Introduction

Hyalinizing trabecular tumors (HTT) of the thyroid are relatively rare and mainly benign. They derive from follicular cells and are characterized by a trabecular pattern and inter- and intratrabecular hyalinization. Sonographic, scintigraphic and cytological findings can closely resemble those of malignant entities such as medullary and papillary thyroid carcinoma as well as paraganglioma necessitating histological assessment. [2] Scintigraphy with 99mTc-MIBI is commonly used in patients with suspicious thyroid nodules. In this report we present the diagnostic workup of a patient with HTT including 99mTc-MIBI scan.
