Isolated systolic hypertension in the elderly: Results of the camerano study on hypertension

Abstract

In a cross-sectional study, carried out on a population of a small Italian town, the authors examined the prevalence of isolated systolic hypertension in two age groups. One included subjects whose ages ranged between sixty-five and seventy-four years and the second, subjects seventy-five years-old or older. There was no significant difference between the prevalence of isolated systolic hypertension in the two groups, ie, 14.7% and 18.9%, respectively.
