Significance

A general regio- and stereoselective synthesis of alkyl allyl ethers via Au(I)-catalyzed intermolecular hydroxyalkylation is reported. This method was applied to mono-, di-, tri- and tetrasubstituted allenes. Primary and secondary alcohols as well as methanol, phenol and propionic acid were used as nucleophiles.
