Significance

The development of a highly efficient aluminum-catalyzed enantioselective oxidation of sulfides under solvent-free or highly concentrated conditions is reported. The corresponding optically active sulfoxides are obtained in good yields with high to excellent enantioselectivities. This versatile methodology is one of the few examples of enantioselective oxidation under solvent-free conditions.
