Significance

Copper-catalyzed enantioselective [4+2] and [2+2] cycloadditions are reported for an acetylene derivative (propiolamide) and various cyclic dienes and enol ethers. Simple dienes containing one substituent or no substituents participated in the [4+2] cycloaddition, whereas enol ethers and highly substituted dienes participated in the [2+2] cycloaddition.
