Significance

Dinuclear copper(II) Schiff-base complexes B and C were prepared from the corresponding Schiff-base ligands. A polymeric complex polB was prepared by mixing Cu(OAc)2 and the poly(acrylate)-supported ligand polA, which was obtained via emulsion polymerization of A in the presence of styrene and butyl acrylate. Catalytic properties of polB as well as its soluble counterparts B and C were examined for the aerobic oxidation of 3,5-di-tert-butylcatechol 1. A significant acceleration effect over background (e.g. the self-oxidation under aerobic conditions) was observed with polB.
