ABSTRACT

Mounting concerns about bromocriptine (Parlodel) and rare cardiovascular and cerebrovascular accidents have prompted the manufacturer to remove the drug from the market for use in postpartum lactation suppression. No drug is available now or will be in the. foreseeable future for this indication. This change in prescribing practice should alert the physician to counseling the expectant mother about the merits of breast feeding and about simple, non-pharmacologic methods of suppressing milk production.
