Significance

This novel Ugi-type three-component reaction, which is mediated by aminoborane 1, allows the use of secondary amines in contrast to the original Ugi reaction. The reaction proceeds with tolerance of many functional groups due to its non-acidic conditions and provides an access to various α-amino acids.
