Significance

The authors show that lithium tributylmagnesiate [(n-Bu)3MgLi] is a suitable reagent for the bromine-magnesium exchange with electron-rich aryl bromides. The respective lithium triarylmagnesiates form with low reaction times and can be efficiently subjected to Ni-catalyzed Kumada-Corriu cross-coupling reactions.
