Significance

The cyclometalated oxadiazole-iridium(III) complexes 2 and 3-synthesized from the dichloro-bridged dimer (1) in 88% and 86% yield, respectively-showed blue phosphorescence with emission maxima at 470 nm and 466 nm, respectively.
